Paintball Tactics to get you started
January 18, 2008While I was researching paintball tactics today, I came across an excellent summary of things to do and know when you are just starting out in paintball. These are not exactly tactics, but if you are new, using these tips are one of the best paintball tactics that you can start out with to get a head start in the game.
You might think that some of then are obvious, but more often than not, when you are on the field, you seem to forget the most basic of things. Use the following tips to get a head start in the game of paintball:
- Safety Tip: Never, ever take of your mask off, while on the field. Only take it off once you are in a designated safe area.
- Know how your paintball gun works before the game starts. You don’t want to be in the middle of a shoot out and wonder how your gun works. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
- Don’t worry being shot by a paintball. It’s does not really hurt that much. Keep your focus on the game. I guess you will have to find out for yourself how a paintball feels
- If you don’t have the proper paintball gear yet, don’t worry. Wear dark color clothing that is lose, comfortable and easy to move in. Some players wear as much layers of clothing to protect themselves. This will only slow you down and make you an easy target.
- Wear shoes that are comfortable. Football or soccer boots works perfect.
- Ask, Ask, Ask. Don’t be shy, ask as many questions. A lot of players will be keen to help.
- Don’t try to be a hero. Play as part of the team and stick to the game plan.
- When you get hit, be honest about it and exit the game. If you are unsure, ask for a paint check. Don’t just assume. A referee will confirm if you are hit or not.
- Always look around. Don’t focus on one thing for too long. A lot of players gets eliminated like this. They don’t look around. Be alert on the field.
- Move around. Don’t stay at one place to long and don’t keep shooting at the same guy from the same angle. Surprise your enemy by changing positions and shooting from different angles.
- If you run out of paintballs or air, don’t give up. Never give up. Your enemy won’t always know that you have run out supplies. You can be a decoy and distract the enemy, while your team moves forward and take them out.
